History of the PBCGA Since its inception in 1976, the Palm Beach County Golf Association has been a cornerstone to the many excellent golfers residing in Palm Beach County. For those of you who may not be familiar with the PBCGA, we are a 501C-3 non-profit organization founded by local business leaders in 1976. Our purpose is two-folded: First, we conduct approximately 19 tournaments per year. Our championships are the best of their kind anywhere and we strive to make them enjoyable for everyone. Second, we are committed to providing college scholarships to needy and worthy students and to promoting junior golf throughout the county. We are very proud of the fact that our efforts have made a difference in the lives of many area students.

Our premier junior golf event is the Nicklaus Junior Championship. The event is held every August at Bear Lakes Country Club. The championship is 36 holes stroke play for ages 13-15 and 16-18. The 10-12 age division plays 9 holes stroke play. The Nicklaus Junior Championship is open to male and female junior golfers age 10-18 who are residents of Palm Beach or Martin County and who are not currently attending college. There are three age divisions for both boys and girls (10-12, 13-15,16-18.

The Palm Beach County Golf Association is considered one of the finest local or regional golf associations in the country. Located in the "Golf Capital of the World," the PBCGA boasts over 825 members. They play professionally conducted tournaments on some of the top courses in America designed by such world-renowned architects as Jack Nicklaus, Donald Ross, Arnold Palmer, Tom Fazio, Pete Dye and Gary Player.

Many of America's world-renowned professionals and amateurs reside here as well. Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have been supporters of the PBCGA for many years. The Jack and Barbara Nicklaus Endowment Fund underwrites the Jack Nicklaus Junior Championship held annually at Bear Lakes Country Club. This tournament is considered one of the finest Junior events in the country.

Every year our tournaments provide a valuable training ground for many great golfers that may eventually turn pro. Past Champions include Mark Calcavecchia, Steve Hart, Micky Van Gerbig and Tom Knapp.

The PBCGA is not only for the scratch golfer. Every level of golfer can benefit from our tournaments. Most tournaments are flighted to give each level of golfer the opportunity to compete and improve their game. We also conduct 6 Senior events (must be 50 years old to compete) which have a gross winner as well as a net winner.

To be eligible for membership, you must be a resident or belong to a golf course in Palm Beach, Martin, Broward or St. Lucie County.
