Voisin 2 Ahead of Defending Champ

April 12, 2017

The Senior Amateur Championship is in the homestretch at Bradenton Country Club. After consistent rounds of 70-71—141 Bret Voisin climbed up the leaderboard to take first place. Voisin, of Orlando, is fighting for his second individual FSGA win since winning the state's Mid-Amateur title in 2006 with a one stroke lead heading into the final round. Tough competitors, Doug LaCrosse and Robert Polk, lurk close behind tied for second at even par (142). Defending Champion and first round leader, Peter Wegmann, fell to fourth place after a second round 74 and 143 two round total. The leaderboard remains tight heading into Thursday’s final round with the familiar names of Craig Howell, John Vaccaro, and K C Fox tied for fifth place three shots off of the lead. Vaccaro and Howell carded the low round of the day with a 69 (-2).

65 players will tee it up Thursday vying for a victory with the cut made at 14 over-par 156. Final round tee times begin at 8:00 AM and you can stay up to date with live scoring at fsga.org. Nine hole scores will be available for the field and hole by hole scoring updates will be displayed for the leader group.
