Luke Farmer and Shane Reynolds Win

May 7, 2017

Round one began early Saturday morning on the Wee Friendly Course with the modified alternate shot format. Both players on a team hit drives, one drive is selected, and the two then play alternate shot into the hole. Two teams got off to a quick start and sat tied for first after round one. Bob Campione, of Palm Coast, and Steve Carter, of Saint Augustine, tied the team of Luke Farmer, of Estero, and Shane Reynolds, of Fort Myers, with three-under-par 69. Following close behind at one-under-par 70 was the team of Ben Adelberg and Ben Finley.

The teams were back at it Saturday afternoon on the Long Mean Course for round two and the two-man scramble format. Four teams tied for the low round of the afternoon portion with nine-under-par 63, including first round coleaders Luke Farmer and Shane Reynolds. The duo of Campione/Carter was unable to keep pace, firing a second round 65 that left them two shots back in a tie for second with Adelberg/Finley (134 two round total) heading into Sunday’s final round.

The final round was contested on the Long Mean Course in four-ball, or best ball of two, format.  While Campione and Carter made a valiant effort, recording a final round five-under-par 67, they were no match for the overnight leaders. Farmer and Reynolds held strong firing a final round 68 for a 200 tournament total to claim the title. The low round of the day, eight-under-par 64, came from the duo of Jim Marcelak and Jake Johnson. Their final round score was the best by three and vaulted the team to a top ten finish. The win marks the first FSGA Championship title for either Farmer or Reynolds and their first as a team. Full Results
