State Champs Competing at U.S. Senior

July 10, 2012

Matt Avril and Doug Snoap will tee off at the U.S. Senior Open at Indianwood Golf and Country Club on Thursday.  Matt qualified for the U.S. Senior Open at Dunedin Country Club where he fired a 2-under par, 70.  Matt is a former FSGA champion and past FSGA Board Member.

Yesterday, the USGA announced Nick Price withdrew from the U.S. Senior Open due to a family emergency.  The alternate who took his place is Doug Snoap, a current FSGA board member and past FSGA champion.  Doug also competed in the sectional qualifier at Dunedin Country Club where he posted a round of 71 to earn the first alternate position.  Doug is paired with past major champions and all-time greats Tom Watson and Fred Couples.

The 33rd U.S. Senior Open will be held at Indianwood Golf and Country Club located in Lake Orion, Michigan.  Indianwood hosted previous USGA events in 1989 and 1994 when they held the U.S. Women’s open.   This par-70 course is playing at 6,891 yards and contains challenges in its fiercely sloped greens and narrow fairways.
