Florida Junior Tour (Girls 13-18)

  • Viera East Golf Club
  • Yardage and Rating
            - Girls - 5,960 yds. 74.5/130
  • Round One: Mild temperatures with partly cloudy skies, windy with gusts up to 30 mph.
  • Round Two: Mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers, windy with gusts up to 30 mph. Two 75 minute rain delays.

ROCKLEDGE - Despite the persistent winds and occasional rain, Mimi Chen and Ainsley Mann were able to put together solid final rounds. Both Champions can say they beat not just their respective fields, but the weather as well.

Girls' 16-18 Division

On a day where comebacks were at a premium, Mimi Chen made the most of her final round to erase a three-stroke deficit heading into the final round to claim the title. Players standing atop the leader board after Round 1 were not able to hold off the charging Chen, but weather delays disrupted her rhythm which kept the rest of the field in it. Claire Jeon (+12) and Ramya Meenakshisundaram (+12) also had solid final round comebacks but ultimately came up just short to eventual Champion, Chen. Although Mimi is a proven winner on the Florida Junior Tour, this one might have been her toughest.

Girls' 13-15 Division

After Saturday's first round, there was a solid contingent of players who had a shot at the win, which led to a battle down the stretch of the final round. The eventual top three all came out of Sunday's final pairing; Ainsley Mann (+4), Karoline Tuttle (+4), and Juliana Camargo (+5).  All three players kept things close, especially during the final nine holes of play. Each player took turns holding the lead throughout the day and after a string of birdies to start off her back nine, Camargo held the lead for the first time. However, it took a steady finish by Mann and an explamation point birdie on the 36th hole by Tuttle to force a playoff at 148 (+4). Mann went on to continue her steady streak by parring the first playoff hole to beat Tuttle by one, and claim her first Florida Junior Tour victory.
