SARASOTA - Mother Nature did its best to keep the field off of the golf course by causing a weather-shortened tournament, but it could not keep Thomas Salanito from claiming his first Florida Junior Tour Victory.

Boys 16-18 Division

Most golfers know that sometimes it is the first victory that is hardest to come by, and after that winning can almost become a habit. Thomas Salanito is now looking to make winning on the Florida Junior Tour a new habit. Salanito was able to put the rainy day behind him and focus on the task at hand which led to him firing a 5 under-par round of 66, 3 strokes ahead of second-place finisher, Nicholas Gabrelcik. Scores ranging from 70-72 came in droves, but both Salanito and Gabrelcik were able to distance themselves from the field as the only players in the 60's. When reminiscing on his round with his fellow competitors, Salanito explained "I just made everything," in reference to his red-hot putter. During a weekend of unpredictable weather, it paid to be hot at the right time.
