Jeronimo Esteve lives in Wyndermere, Florida but he's been spending a lot of his time in Houston these days; for treatment of cancer. Nearing the end of his treatment, he decided to attempt to qualify for the US Mid-Amateur Championship at Pine Forest Country Club in Houston.
His first round tee time of 8:00 AM fit him well to get out early to beat the heat and also give him time to make it to the hospital for his daily treatment. He played well in the qualifier, carding a 70 on the day, and then heading to the hospital. Upon completion of his treatment, He headed back to course to see if his score had held up only to find himself in a 5 for 4 spots play-off.
Jeronimo will be heading back to Houston in a few says. And by the way, when he returns to Houston in a few days it will be to play in the US Mid-Amateur, not for another treatment.
