November 11, 2012

The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes went wire-to-wire to claim the Regular Division title in the Club Team Championship at the Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club in Vero Beach. Buckhorn Springs Golf & Country Club outlasted a strong field to capture the Senior Division title. The event was conducted on November 10-11.

Grabbing 126 Stableford points in the first round, The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes would take an eight point lead heading into the final round of play.  The team of Thad Hudgens, Derek Camps, Chad Ibbotson, and Rod Bayliss posted a total of 110 points in the final round for a tournament total of 236 to capture the title by four points.  This is the first time The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes has captured the Club Team Championship. The team of Chuck Gould, Bobby Bird, Ryan Cobb and Matthew Avril from Vero Beach Country Club, finished alone in second place after posting 118 points in the first round and 114 in the final round for a team total of 232 points.

In the Senior Division, Buckhorn Springs Golf & Country Club captured the championship for the third time in four years by six stabelford points. The team consisting of Skip Lujack, Bill Moore, Pete Andrews, and Dan Morgan posted 124 points in the first round and followed that with 100 points in the final round to win the championship.  Black Diamond Ranch finished alone in second place with a total of 220 stabelford points. The Defending Champions from the Jupiter Hills Club finished in third place with 213 points for third place.

A tradition since 1941, the Club Team is open to traditional golf clubs that own their own course and are members of the FSGA.

The four team members must each be members of the club. Each team member plays 36 holes of individual stroke play using stableford scoring.  Total of best 3 point totals of 4 count as the team score each day, and the highest team point total for 36 holes is crowned the champion.
