Teams Set For Men's Interclub Championship

March 26, 2013

The 2013 FSGA Men's Interclub Season kicked off on January 6th. Now, nearly three months and over 5,000 rounds of golf later, it culminates at the State Championship. 108 teams competed this year from Pensacola all the way to Pompano Beach, and now only the eight Regional Champions remain:

Tampa Bay Region: The Eagles Golf Club, Odessa
Suncoast Region: Fiddlesticks Country Club, Fort Myers
West Region: Gainesville Country Club, Gainesville
Central Region: La Cita Country Club, Titusville
Naples Region: Quail Creek Country Club, Naples
Northeast Region: Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club, Jacksonville
Southeast Region: Sandridge Golf Club, Vero Beach
Panhandle Region: Tiger Point Country Club, Gulf Breeze

The field is highlighted by La Cita Country Club out of Titusville, who won the Championship in both 2008 and 2010. The Championship is being held at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, utilizing both the North and South courses of the beautiful 36-hole facility.

Each team played six regular season matches throughout January and February against three clubs in their area. Matches were played using individual and four-ball net match play formats for 8 players from each club to determine the match winner. Teams then played two rounds of regional playoffs before advancing to the State Championship. The format will be changed for the Championship however, with players using modified net stableford stroke play. The team with the most stableford points after two days is the Champion. The action gets underway at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27th.
