La Cita Country Club Wins Men's Interclub

La Cita CC claims third Interclub title

La Cita Country Club stormed back to win the 2013 Men’s Interclub Team Championship at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, March 27-28.  After six weeks of matches and two rounds of play-offs, La Cita Country Club beat out seven other Regional Champions to be crowned the Men’s Interclub State Champions.
 
La Cita Country Club earned 193 points in the first round to trail Quail Creek Country Club by 14 points heading into the final round.  In the final round La Cita was lead by Peter Schuch and Jason Snodgrass who each earned 37 stabelford points, to help their team finish with 211 points on the day, and a tournament total of 404 points to capture the title by four points. This is La Cita’s third Men’s Interclub Championship.  Members of the championship team included: Scott Ahmie, Syd Brooke, Ed Burrow, Walt Cerrato, Don Danielson, Tim Fields, Donn Hennessy, Peter Schuch, and Jason Snodgrass. Queen Harbour Yacht & Country Club and Quail Creek Country Club finished tied for second place with 400 total team points.
 
2013 was a great season for the Men’s Interclub which saw 108 teams compete from Pensacola all the way to Pompano Beach. Eight Regional Champions earned the right to compete at the State Championship at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club:

Tampa Bay Region: The Eagles Golf Club, Odessa
Suncoast Region: Fiddlesticks Country Club, Fort Myers
West Region: Gainesville Country Club, Gainesville
Central Region: La Cita Country Club, Titusville
Naples Region: Quail Creek Country Club, Naples
Northeast Region: Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club, Jacksonville
Southeast Region: Sandridge Golf Club, Vero Beach
Panhandle Region: Tiger Point Country Club, Gulf Breeze

In the State Championship, the six lowest individual net scores (highest net Stableford points) per team count. The team with the highest number of points will be crowned the Interclub State Champions. Net Stableford points are as follows: Double Eagle 5-points, Eagle 4-points, Birdie 3-points, Par 2-points, Bogey 1-point, Double Bogey or higher 0-points.
 
The Men's Interclub Team Matches began in January and included six weeks of home and away matches, followed by regional play-offs and a State Championship at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.

Matches are played on Thursday afternoons and utilize full handicaps (18.4 indexes and below) featuring eight players from each team competing against another local club. All competitors play an individual 18-hole match and at the same time, play with a partner from their team in a four-ball match against two players from the opposing team (2-man, best ball).
