Due to unfortunate circumstances that have affected course conditions, the 2013 Women’s Amateur Championship has been relocated to Vero Beach Country Club. Host to our 2013 Mid-Amateur Stroke Play Championship earlier this month, Vero Beach CC is a gorgeous facility, is in great condition, and will prove to be a challenging course to all participants. Randy Hedgecock, Head Golf Professional, and his staff have been extremely supportive through this change and are thrilled to have the Women’s Amateur Championship at their club.
Hawks Nest Golf Club was more than gracious and understanding about the situation, as it was their goal to present the best course conditions as host of such a major Championship. Hawks Nest has a beautiful facility and is a tremendous supporter of the FSGA and amateur golf. We look forward to working with them again in the future.
Vero Beach Country Club will be hosting some of the top women amateur golfers in Florida. Past 2007 champion and 2012 Women's Senior Player-of-the-Year, Mary Jane Hiestand of Naples, will be playing with the Women's Stroke Play defending champion, Ericka Schneider of Bradenton. Other top amateurs competing include, Diane Lang of Weston, Tara Connelly of Palm Beach Gardens, 2012 Women's Amateur Runner-Up, Marie Arnoux of Miami Beach, Kristine Odaiyar of Ocala, the 2013 Girls' Junior Champion, Erica Stoner of Ocala, as well as many others.
The dates of the Championship are the same. Due to the circumstances, round one tee times will now begin at 10:30 AM off the first tee only on Saturday, June 8th. Practice rounds are available at Vero Beach Country Club from now until the Championship, but can only be made three days in advance and played after noon.
