Women Selected to All Am Team

Seven Florida women were selected as part of Global Golf Post’s Inaugural All Am Team because of their outstanding play during the 2013 season.  Congratulations to all those recognized for their accomplishments.

The FSGA’s Women’s Amateur Player-of-the-Year, Meghan Stasi of Oakland Park, and Tara Connelly, of Palm Beach Gardens, were selected to the Women’s Mid-Amateur First Team.  Stasi’s highlight of the season came in September when she captured the Inaugural Florida Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.  Stasi continued her success at the USGA level, making it to the round of 32 at the United States Women’s Amateur and finishing as a semifinalist at the US Women’s Mid-Amateur where she is a four-time champion.  Connelly also had a successful year, placing second at the Florida Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship.  Connelly also advanced to the quarterfinals at the US Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.  But Stasi and Connelly were successful together in 2013, winning the Women’s International Four-Ball Championship and representing team Florida at the USGA State Team Championship where the team finished second behind New Jersey.

Mary Jane Hiestand of Naples, the 2013 FSGA Women’s Senior Amateur Player-of-the-Year, was selected to the Women’s Senior Amateur First Team. Hiestand claimed the championship title at the Florida  Women’s Senior Amateur and also grabbed another victory at the North & South Women’s Senior Amateur Championship.  Mary Jane has also been extremely successful in USGA championships, qualifying for the United States Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and advancing all the way to the semifinals at the U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur Championship with her husband, Jeff, on the bag the entire way.

Lin McMillan
, of Palm Coast, and Therese Quinn, of Jacksonville, were selected as part of the Women’s Senior Amateur Second Team for the inaugural year.  McMillan had quite an exciting year, advancing to Round of 32 matches in both the US Women’s Mid-Amateur and Women’s Senior Amateur Championships.  She also placed in the top five at the North & South Women’s Senior Amateur Championship.  Quinn also had a successful year, advancing to Round of 64 matches in both the US Women’s Mid-Amateur and Women’s Senior Amateur Championships.  And Quinn also placed in the top five at the North & South Women’s Senior Amateur Championship.  

The honorable mentions from Florida include Mid-Amateur Marie Arnoux, of Miami Beach, and Women’s Senior Amateur Sue Cohn, of Palm Beach Gardens.  Both had extremely successful years, with Arnoux finishing as a semi-finalist at the Ione/Jones Doherty Championship and Cohn finished as runner-up at the US Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.
