Eisch and Shin Win Again

September 7, 2014

The Florida Junior Tour's 13-15 age division ventured to Carrollwood Country Club in Tampa, the FSGA's hometown, for one of the few remaining tournaments before the Tour Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

Playing the Meadow and Pine nines at Carrollwood CC, Lauren Waidner took the first round lead with an impressive even par 2-under par 70. Waidner would falter in the final round and open the door for the competition behind her. The golfer who took advantage was Brittany Shin. After firing a 75 in her first round, Brittany found her touch in the final round. Brittany made 3 birdies and only one bogey en route to a 2-under par 70 and a tournament total of 1-over par (145). That total gave Brittany a two shot victory and her third FJT title of the 2014 season.

Lauren Waidner (70-77--147) and Alyssa Lamoureux (72-75--147)  finished in a tie for second place.

In the boys division, two players shot under par rounds in the first round to lead the field. Robert Eisch and Dhruv Patel both shot a 2-under par 70.

In the final round, Patel fell out of contention and Eisch had to make birdie on the 18th hole to get in to the playoff. He was joined by Justin Shiao who shot a 74 in Round 1, but followed it up with an impressive 69 and a tournament total of -1 (143) and Alberto Martinez who fired a 72-71--143. All three players made birdie on the 18th hole to force the playoff.

The playoff would head over to hole #10, a 500 yard par 5. Justin Shiao and Alberto Martinez saw their birdie putts slide by and tapped in for par. Robert Eisch, on his home course, would not let the opportunity pass him by. He rolled in his birdie putt and secured his second Florida Junior Tour win of 2014.
