Worthington Country Club, located in Bonita Springs, was in great condition for the Boys' and Girls', 16-18 age division, Florida Junior Tour event. Despite windy weather the juniors posted impressive scores this weekend, November 22-23.
In the Boys' 16-18 age division, Linus Lo, of Heathrow, fired an opening round of two under-par to lead by one stroke over Anthony Gabriele and Nick Solimene. Kaleb Johnson shot an even-par first round to finish in fourth place. Five players sat in fifth place with a score of 73 after round one.
First round leaders faltered during round two on Sunday. Linus Lo shot three over-par in the second round to fall to a tied for fourth finish with Anthony Gabriele, who posted a round two score of 74. Andrew Kozan conquered round two by birdying all four par fives. Kozan, of Palm Beach, moved from a tied for fourth first round finish to a first place win with his second round score of 69. Zachary Smith played consistently and finished one stroke back in second place with rounds of 73-70. Wanjoo Lee tied the tournament low, 68, to move up the leader board and finish in third place.
In the Girls' 16-18 age division, Terese Romeo dominated both rounds to win the tournament by eight shots. Romeo, of Tampa, posted a first round score of 75 to lead by two strokes over Anna-Marie Kuenzle. Hallianne Hobson shot 78 to finish round one in third place. Romeo started round two strong with an even par first nine finish and finished with a total of sixteen pars, one bogey, and one birdie to shoot even-par, 72. Claire Fitzgerald trailed Romeo with a second round score of 74.
The FJT travels to Walt Disney World, December 6-7 for the last tournament before the Tour Championship. The season will end with the Tour Championship held at TPC Sawgrass on December 13-14.
