Junior Spotlight - Membrino & Kou

February 13, 2015

After the first month and a half of the 2015 Florida Junior Tour season, two golfers have stood out in their respective age divisions. Logan Membrino, Ponte Vedra Beach, and Cindy Kou, Windermere, have both won two times already in 2015.

Logan, who is playing his first full season in the 16-18 age division, has made an early statement for Junior Player of the Year. His season began at The Conservatory at Hammock Beach where he battled through the rainy conditions to win in a playoff. After 36 holes, Membrino and Eli Hendricks were all square. It didn't take Logan long to claim victory as he made birdie on the first playoff hole to win the inaugural FJT of 2015. The following week, he went to Tallahassee where he finished tied for 4th at Southwood Golf Club. To start February, Membrino came down to Parrish, FL to compete at River Wilderness Golf & Country Club. His rounds of 69-72 were good enough for a 2 shot victory. Logan plans on continuing his hot streak on February 21-22 at West Orange Country Club and on March 7-8 at Amelia National Golf Club.

In the 13-15 division, Cindy Kou captured the first two events of 2015. The 11 year old, who won't turn 12 until July, has definitely earned the right to compete with the 13-15 year olds. In chilly and blustery conditions at Brooksville Country Club, she was able to secure a 5 shot victory with her consistent play. At Gainesville Country Club, Cindy held a four shot lead after her opening round of even par 72. She came back to the field a bit in the second round, but was still able to secure a two shot victory.

Both of these juniors look to keep their competitive play going during the first half of the FJT season and in to the summer championships. Entries are open for all of the 2015 championships. Click here to take a look at the schedule.
