July 20, 2007

Todd Elliott, of Bradenton, the 2003 Champion, posted a 66 in the first round to hold a one stroke advantage heading into the second round of play. Judson Eustaquio, of Lake Worth, sits one back from Elliott after shooting a 67. Eustaquio won the 2004 Boys Junior Championship earning him that year’s FSGA Junior Player-of-the-Year. Kevin Aylwin, of New Smyrna Beach, and Lance Gillett, from Cocoa Beach, are tied for third place each recording a 68. Defending Champion Jon Veneziano, of Mount Dora, is tied for 29th after a first round score of 74.

The Public Links Championship is open to bona fide public course players who are not members of a private club and also do not have a handicap index any higher than 6.4. Competitors play 18 holes of stroke play on each of the three days.
