Over 9,000 amateur and professional golfers submitted entries for the 2012 US Open Championship being played at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California. The USGA was just 80 entries shy of the record number of entries which was received back in 2009.
1,147 hopefuls will attempt the first stage of the grueling qualifying process at one of the 16 local qualifiers in Florida. Local qualifiers are held between May 4th to May 17th.

After the first stage of qualifying is completed, the players who qualified move onto the Sectional Qualifier that they choose on their entry form. Black Diamond Ranch's Quarry Course is hosting the US Open Sectional Qualifier in Florida on June 4th. Typically, around 50 players compete in the sectional qualifier held in Florida with 2-4 players advancing to the Championship. The "sectional" is 36-holes played on one day, while the local qualifiers are 18-holes.
