Berger and Proctor Victorious at Rio Pinar

Daniel Berger and Heather Proctor grabbed first place honors at the Florida Junior Tour’s (FJT) 16-18 age division event at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando on October 10-11.

Daniel Berger, of Jupiter, started the event with a three-over par 75 to trail first round leader, Hayden Jones from Orlando by four strokes. In the final round, Berger played steady on the front nine making one bogey and three birdies on his front nine for a two-under par 34. Berger continued his solid play on the back nine with birdies on holes 10, 15, 16 and 18 for a four under par 32 and a final round six-under par 66 for a tournament total of 141. Jason Zhou, of Skillman, NJ fired a first round even par 72 and fired a final round three under par 69 for a tournament total of three under par 141. Berger and Zhou would go to a sudden death playoff. Berger prevailed by making a par on the fourth play-off hole. This is Berger’s first FJT victory. Hojin Kang, of Longwood, finished alone in third place with rounds of 75-69 a tournament total of 144.

In the Girls Division Heather Proctor, of Silver Springs, overcame a two shot deficit for her first FJT victory. In the final found Proctor fired a four under par 32 on her front nine, and held her round together on the back nine carding a one over par 37 and a final round three under par 69. Proctor’s 69 was the low round of the tournament for the Girls division and earned her a three shot victory. Nicole Quinn, of Windermere, and Olivia Lugar, of Rockledge, finished tied for second with a tournament total of four over par 148.
