Sectional Qualifying at Black Diamond

May 18, 2012

The last of the U.S. Open Local Qualifiers wrapped up yesterday and the focus now shifts to Sectional Qualifying.  There were 109 Local Qualifiers held around the country, 17 of which were contested in Florida and conducted by the FSGA.  The journey for those fortunate enough to make it through local qualifying isn't over. Open hopefuls must now navigate their way through one of thirteen 36-hole Sectional Qualifiers against an elite field of both amateurs and professionals.

Florida will again play host to one of the eleven stateside Sectional Qualifiers (there are also qualifiers in England and Japan).  This year's qualifier will be held at the famed Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto on Monday,June 4th.  The Quarry Course, which boasts a truly breathtaking stretch of holes carved into an actual quarry, is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in the country.  Black Diamond Ranch has also played host to the 2011 Florida Open and 2012 FSGA Super Senior Championship.  Players who qualify will have earned themselves a tee time at The Olympic Club in San Francisco on June 14.
