Mid-Am Four-Ball Championships Completed

The Florida State Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship finished this past weekend with a North and South Champion. The South Championship was won by Juan and Julio Nutt at The Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami.

In the South Championship at Doral, Juan and Julio Nutt, of Miami, shot a 69-63, 132 total, on the infamous Blue Monster course. Scott Brassard, of Davie, and Brian Johnson, from Coral Springs, finished in second place with a 65-70, 135 total. The Mid-Amateur Four-Ball North Championship consisted of 52 teams while the South was made up of 54 teams. Competitors played 36 holes of four-ball stroke play in the two-day event.

Organized in 1913, the Florida State Golf Association is a not-for-profit organization that governs amateur golf in the state of Florida. In addition to conducting 20 championships for amateur golfers in the state, the FSGA is responsible for 39 qualifying tournaments for USGA National Championships. The FSGA also maintains the USGA Handicap System, performs course ratings throughout Florida and assists in junior programs and scholarships.

 

Doral Golf Resort is hosting the southern championship. Doral has consistently been named as one of the best resorts in the country and is home of the PGA Tour’s Doral-Ryder open.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 25 or older as of May 31, 2003. Both entrants must also be members of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$310 per team. ($300 for online entry.) Includes two competitive rounds, cart fees at competitive rounds, and prizes.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes four-ball stroke play.

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes. Number of flights determined after round one.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Lee Booker, Naples, and Marc St. Martin, Estero, won the south title (64-65--129) at Riverwood Golf Club in Port Charlotte.
