Godwin and Gosse Team Capture Mid-Am Four-Ball North Title

Ken Godwin and Kelly Gosse won the Florida State Mid-Amateur Four-Ball North Championship at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club on May 29-30.

Ken Godwin, from Ocala, and Kelly Gosse, from Inverness, won the North Championship shooting a 68-67—135. In a tie for second place firing a two-day total 137 was the team from Tampa, John Gabler and Frank Griffin, and first round leaders, Andy Higgins and Mike Stevens, both of Ponte Vedra Beach. Curtis Madson, of Mount Dora, and Doug Snoap, of Apopka, finished three strokes back from the leaders shooting a 70-68—138.

The Mid-Amateur Four-Ball North Championship featured 52 teams.  Both North and South sites are 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. Amelia Island Plantation will host the 2005 Mid-Am Four-Ball North.

Golden Ocala will host the 2004 Mid-Amateur Northern Championship. Golden Ocala has created replica holes of some of the finest courses in the world to provide the ultimate golf experience.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 25 or older as of May 29, 2004. Both entrants must also be members of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$330 per team. ($320 for online entry.) Includes two competitive rounds, cart fees at competitive rounds and prizes.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes four-ball stroke play.

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes. Number of flights determined after round one.

CARTS

Players are responsible for practice round cart fees.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Steve Carter and Andy Purnell won the North Championship at Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand in a playoff with a score of 65-70--135.
