Since 1995,
the Florida Women’s State Golf Association (FWSGA) has been awarding
scholarships to women across the state. The FWSGA Junior Girls’
Scholarship program was created as an opportunity for women in
need of financial assistance to continue their education. All
applicants must be a resident of Florida, attend a Florida
educational intuition, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have
an interest in golf, but not skilled enough to qualify for an
athletic scholarship. The FWSGA has dedicated itself to raising
the necessary funds needed to make these scholarships available.
In 2006, the FWSGA awarded two $5000 scholarships to two
deserving candidates. Lauren Michelle Uzelatz from Lakeland, FL
received the Sarah E. Huneycutt Scholarship and Desire Chanel
Vanterpool from Gainesville, FL received the FWSGA Junior Girls’
Scholarship.
