The
only connection to the club and you is in your hands.
This directly effects the position of the clubface at
impact and why most teachers first look at your grip.
The best tip to try is “Turn your hands to where the
ball is going”.
For a right handed player - if you are hitting fades or
slices, a simple fix may be to turn your hands to the
right (the same way the ball is going) on your grip.
This “strengthens” your grip and gets the clubface
closed faster instead of being to open and going to the
right. On the opposite end, if the ball is drawing or
hooking too much (starting straight and going left) turn
your hands to the left on the grip. This will make your
grip “weaker” and let the clubface stay open much longer
than before.
Have some fun the next
time you are practicing and try this tip, you could
strengthen your game by using your imagination and
really see what you can make the ball do. Consult your
local professional if you have any questions. |
