As many of you may know,
the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) administers the USGA’s GHIN Handicap System in the state.
Unlike the USGA and PGA Tour, we do not receive revenue
from televised events. The FSGA is primarily supported
by your club’s full membership in the GHIN Handicap System
which helps fund the many great
things we do for the game of golf in Florida.
This is the time of year
that many
outside software companies attempt to convince your
club to buy a new handicap system and abandon the FSGA
and GHIN System. Don't let your club make the mistake of
leaving the FSGA and USGA in an effort to save a dollar
or two per member. Please take an active role in
ensuring that your club remains a full member of the
FSGA on the GHIN System. If you hear of a potential
change, please talk to
your club staff and tell them the importance of the GHIN
System and contact the FSGA office so we can help.
The FSGA is the most
active golf association in the country with more than
400 volunteers serving the game. Each year we conduct
over 250 days of competition including State
Championships, qualifying events for USGA National
Championships and the Florida Junior Tour. Our
Foundation also provides college scholarships and travel
assistance to deserving junior golfers.
There are more than 500 clubs statewide using the GHIN
Handicap System, and we value our relationship with each
and every club. Please be an active supporter of GHIN at your club
and if you have any questions, please contact the FSGA
at (813) 632-3742. We greatly appreciate your support of
GHIN and the FSGA.
