Three Florida Juniors Compete in 2006 Junior Ryder Cup
  Vicky Hurst
The 2006 Junior Ryder Cup ended in a 6-6 tie as six boys and six girls from the United States competed against juniors from Europe. The Junior Ryder Cup was played on September 18-19 at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales.

The U.S. Team included three juniors from Florida. Vicky Hurst, 16, of Melbourne, the 2005 Florida Junior Girls Champion and runner-up in this year's U.S. Girls Junior Championship, went 2-0 for the U.S. Team. Paired with Isabelle Lendl on the first day, the girls won their four-ball match 1 up. In the mixed four-ball matches on the final day, Vicky and fellow Floridian Bud Cauley beat the European team 3 and 2.

Isabelle Lendl, 15, of Bradenton, the number five ranked junior girl in the country, won her mixed four-ball match 3 and 1 to also go undefeated in the Cup. Bud Cauley, 16, of Jacksonville, a quarterfinalist in the U.S. Junior Amateur, went 1-1 for his two matches.

Cassandra Blaney, of New York, who has competed in many Florida Junior Tour (FJT) events, also represented the U.S. and halved the 18th hole in her final match to give the Americans the tie. Blaney, 16, had five top ten finishes last season in FJT events including a win last February.
