There
is no better cure for the reverse pivot than doing this
drill. It makes it impossible to leave your weight on
the right side. By improving your weight transfer, you
will make a more assertive down-swing and obtain greater
power and accuracy.
Tee
up a ball to increase your chance of making solid
contact. Using a mid-iron, assume your address position
and make your normal backswing. Just after impact on the
downswing, step down the fairway with your right foot. A
number of famous professionals, including Gary Player
and Chi Chi Rodriguez employ this move as part of their
regular swing. It not only prevents a reverse pivot, but
it also helps to release your body as well as your hands
and arms fully.
