FSGA and FWSGA Course Rating Teams Lead USGA Eastern National Course Rating Calibration

The FSGA and FWSGA Winning Course Rating Teams

For the second straight year, the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) Course Rating team tied for first at the USGA Eastern National Calibration at Orange Lake Resort and Country Club in Orlando. FSGA shared first place honors in the men's division with Georgia with an overall grade of 98. The Florida Women's State Golf Association (FWSGA) team led the women’s division scoring a 96.

The FSGA team included Brian Robideau, Ron Audi, Herb Funk and Jim Sweet. Brian Robideau was also a member of last year's winning team. The FWSGA team consisted of Pat Case, Billie Sue Furnas, Carol George and Mary Ann Riccio. The first place finish by the women bettered their second place finish last year.

The scoring method for a USGA Course Rating Calibration weights the on-course calibration as 50% of the total score and the average of the individual written test score and the team written test score carries the other 50% of the total score. Both teams scored 100 on the written exam while the FSGA scored 96 in the on-course calibration and the FWSGA scored 92 in the on-course calibration.

Congratulations to both teams for their outstanding efforts and success at the 2007 USGA Eastern National Calibration. If you ever have a question about course rating, please call the FSGA at (813) 632-3742.
