Create a Solid Foundation for your Golf Swing

Did you ever know that your belly button can tell you what you did right or wrong in your golf swing?

How many times do you see someone who's belly button points right of the target and the ball goes in that direction as well?

When we started thinking about how to improve our golf swing one of the biggest challenges that I see for the average player is that they have "poor balance" or "improper footwork." One of the reasons that "Tour Players" make it look so easy is the fact that their foundation is solid and they have the proper footwork and are always in balance.

One of the keys to developing a sound, repetitive golf swing is to create a solid foundation. When you build a house you start at the foundation, the same can be said in creating a solid foundation for your golf swing. If you have proper footwork, you in turn will have proper balance. For a right-handed player, the simplest way to ensure that you are creating solid balance is to make sure that your belly button points at your intended target on your finish position. Now, to make sure your belly button is pointing at your intended target, in order to create proper footwork, make sure your right heel is pointing at the sky (left heel for a left-handed player). Without your heel pointing up to the sky, you will not correctly transfer the proper weight shift thus making it difficult to hit the ball in the direction that you intend.

Remember it is very simple....proper footwork leads to proper weight shift which leads to solid ball striking which leads to hitting the ball where you are aiming.
