Playing in the boys 15-17 age division,
Bodi Karsono, from Gainesville, is now only 14 years
old but will be 15 at the time of the Championship.
Bodi started playing golf four years ago in an
indoor golf school in Oklahoma. He has since
advanced his game practicing every day after school
and has won events in Oklahoma and Florida.
This will be Bodi's second time representing the
Tiger Woods Foundation in the Callaway Golf Junior
World Golf Championships. Last year, Bodi qualified
on his own for the Championship and then the TWFNJGT gave him the opportunity to participate on
their team at the Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego and "interact
with kids from all over the world," said Bodi. "It was
an opportunity of a lifetime."
Bodi is looking
forward to playing this year at Torrey Pines. "The
opportunity to play as part of the TWFNJGT as well
as to play on such a wonderful golf course such as
Torrey Pines (South) in San Diego, and with a
diverse group of athletes will be exciting and fun,"
said Bodi. For the future, Bodi hopes "to continue
to play golf at an excellent level and win as many
tournaments as possible. I also want to continue to
maintain my 4.0 GPA, play golf for the University of
Florida, and eventually make a living playing on the
PGA Tour."

Trey Valentine, 14,
will be competing in his fifth Junior World this
year. Trey's golf career began early on at the age
of three when his family moved to Guam where he played in his first tournament at
four.
He has since moved several times and continued
his passion for golf. In his short career thus far, Trey has 50 top
three finishes and six hole-in-ones. Trey lists his
first hole-in-one at TPC at Virginia Beach as a
memorable moment as well as chipping in for eagle in
front of Davis Love III while playing with his son.
"He cleaned my clubs afterwards too," said Trey.
"That was pretty special."
Trey got involved with
the Tiger Woods Foundation when he was seven after
attending a clinic in Denver. Trey and his family now live in
Melbourne where he works on his game at Duran Golf Club.
He is looking forward to the tournament, "It's a
great tournament," said Trey. "The best of the best
come from all over the world to compete. It can give
you a true picture of your standing among fellow
competitors."
The Tiger Woods
Foundation National Junior Golf Team (TWFNJGT) was
created, in recognition of Tiger’s work with
underserved youth, when the Junior World Golf
Championships granted 18 permanent exemptions to the
Foundation. The idea was to help those kids not
historically given the opportunity to excel in golf.
As a member of the team, juniors are required to
maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher,
complete a minimum of 30 hours of
community/volunteer service per year, have an active
competitive tournament history as well as a
character reference from their principal/dean of
schools.
Both Bodi and Trey
have competed in many Florida Junior Tour (FJT)
events and are entered to play in the Boys Junior
Championship this summer.
