Rick Woulfe

Rick Woulfe captured his fourth State Championship this year winning the Florida State Mid-Senior Championship at Amelia Island Plantation in mid-August.

Rick Woulfe, of Fort Lauderdale, went wire-to-wire to win the 2007 Mid-Senior Championship with a tournament total of 1-under par 215. After two rounds of shooting 70, Woulfe had a commanding six stroke lead heading into the final round of play. Woulfe posted a 75 in the final round on the Long Point Course to hold on to the lead and capture his third individual title this season. In addition to winning the Senior Amateur and Senior Amateur Match Play Championship this year, Woulfe partnered with Frank Strafaci, of Davie, to defend their Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South title earlier this season. Overall, this win is Woulfe's ninth State Championship.

Felix Bertucci, of Gulfport, placed second six strokes back from Woulfe. With rounds of 75-74-72, Bertucci finished with a tournament total of 221. Four competitors shared third place including David Sutton, of Maitland, who fired a 69 in the final round, the low round of the tournament. Sutton along with Ken Moody, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Maxie Cupit, of Jacksonville, and Doug Snoap, of Apopka, tied for third with a 224 total.

To be eligible for the Mid-Senior Championship, players must be 40 years of age or older. The Championship consists of 54 holes of stroke play cut to the low 70 plus ties after 36 holes. The first two rounds were played on Amelia Island’s Long Point and Oak Marsh Courses. Seventy-two players advanced to the final round on Long Point.
