Alexis Thompson,
13, of Coral Springs, won the 2008 US Girls’ Junior
Championship defeating fellow 13-year-old Karen Chung
5 and 4 at Hartford Golf Club.
Alexis won five FJT events earning her the 2005-2006 FJT Points
Champion. Last year, Alexis made history becoming the youngest
US Women’s Open qualifier. She also played in the 2008 US
Women’s Open and reached the quarterfinals of the 2007 US
Women’s Amateur. With this win, Alexis is the second-youngest
champion in US Girls’ Junior history. Karen, from New Jersey and
resides in Orlando, also plays on the Florida Junior Tour where
she has one victory and four top three finishes.
