Over the Top Cure
By Dan Malizia, Head Golf Professional at Pine Tree Golf Club in Boynton Beach

Many golfers slice the ball; an outside - in swing path causing that big curve to the right! Those with this swing path are said to have come "over the top". However, often times this motion is caused by a poor backswing.

When the body does not turn enough on the backswing, the natural opening of the body moves the club too far outside the desired path. To attain more turn, focus on the right hip. The shoulder turn is determined by the hip turn - the more hip turn, the farther the shoulders can rotate on the backswing. By increasing the hip turn, a fuller turn leads to a more "from the inside" swing path back to the ball.
