One of the most
fundamental concepts of an efficient golf swing is that of
rotating on the axis of your spine. Unfortunately, many golfers
tend to tilt their spine or move laterally during the swing,
which makes the task of achieving consistently-pure contact,
manageable ball flight and greater club head speed more
difficult.
A great way to check if you’re rotating properly, as opposed to
tilting or swaying, is to observe your shadow during practice
swings. In Florida, it’s easy to get a bright sun any time of
the year, so take advantage. With the sun directly at your back,
you may place a marker on the ground (golf balls, tees, etc . .
.) where your shadow is cast. Your shadow relative to the
markers should not move much as you rotate. If you are swaying
or tilting, it will be easy to see by observing your shadow.
Your shadow becomes another set of eyes for you and you can feel
your way into a better move!
