Volunteer Spotlight - John Penicnak
Where were you born and raised?  Chicago, Illinois
 
What college(s) did you attend?  I attended Ripon College, University of South Dakota, and University of Massachusetts.
 
Did you play golf as a child?  Yes
 
When did you move to Florida?  2002
 
What line of work were you in/what different careers did you have?  Pfizer-Board Certified Clinical Chemist/Responsible Head of Establishment for Biological Products and L'Oreal USA-Senior Vice President of R&D, Consumeer Affairs and Regulatory Affairs, also a Member of the Executive Committee.
 
How did you get involved with FSGA?  I was a rules official in New Jersey and wanted to continue when I retired in Florida. I looked online at the FSGA website, and I volunteered at a two tournaments in Orlando, with Tom Zaras.
 
What is your involvement with the FSGA?  Rules Official
 
What is the best thing about volunteering?  I think the best thing is giving back to the game that gave me a lot,
 
Do you have any special memories of volunteering?  The Florida State Amateur, US Open Qualifier, US Senior Qualifier, and the Junior Championship-"can they hit the ball!"
 
Have you attending any seminars? Five USGA/PGA Rules workshops and four or five Florida State workshops.
 
Tell us about your family?  Everyone in my family is a respectable golfer.  They are involved in sales, antiques, a fashion stylist, and a chef. I have been fortunate to win a tournament with all of my family members, even my lovely wife.
 
Do you currently play golf/any holes-in-one?  Yes, I currently play golf and I have had two holes-in-one...including one in the father and son shooting 55.
 
Anything else you would like to share with us?   I am an avid collector of large scale model trains and the Vice President of the Martin County Model Railroaders Club, which is HO gage. I love everything there is about golf, from making clubs, to tees, balls, and "scooping"
