Bob Collins

Tournament Volunteer of the Year - 2016

The 2016 Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Bob Collins, of Fort Myers. Bob began volunteering for the FSGA in 2010. As a Senior Rules Official and Tournament Chairman, Bob’s time commitment to the game of golf is beyond impressive. Since volunteering, Bob has officiated at approximately 100 competitions and conducted 30 of those events as a Tournament Chairman. The game of golf benefits from Bob’s knowledge, passion, and dedication.

At the young age of 10, Bob’s father started teaching him how to play golf. After graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Bob started a 30 year career with IBM and retired in 1996 when he moved to Florida. While living in Minnesota, he spent his free time as a soccer referee, but when he moved to Florida he started volunteering in golf. With Bob’s officiating schedule, involvement in several other committees and associations, and fitting in time to play golf, Bob does not have much free time. He thoroughly enjoys helping others understand the Rules of Golf and spending time with junior golfers while giving back to the game.
