Sharon Baerenklau - Course Rating

Sharon Baerenklau, of Heathrow, has been awarded the Volunteer-of-the-Year for Course Rating. Sharon started playing golf at the age of 40. She has more holes-in-one than golf lessons, 6 aces and 2 lessons. She has played in 17 club championships at various clubs, where she has won the last 15 straight. She has qualified twice for the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship and in 2004 made it to the round of 32.

For the past 10 years, Sharon has been Captain of the Orange, Seminole, and Volusia county women’s course rating team. In fact, she was recruited as Captain after only two ratings, but like her golf game, she was a natural. Sharon has attended the Eastern Course Rating Calibration several times, most recently in 2010 at ChampionsGate, where she led her team to a first place finish.

While attending Cornell University, Sharon met her husband Al and the two have been married now for 43 years.  The couple have two children, a son and a daughter. They have also have been blessed with 4 grandchildren.
