Windsor Parke Goes Wire to Wire

April 24, 2024

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Residing nearby in Jacksonville, the team from Windsor Parke Golf Club was able to go wire to wire to capture the 2024 Men's Interclub Championship. Last crowned in 2015 at Lake Jovita G&CC, this marks the club's second state title.

In the State Championship, the six lowest individual net scores (highest net stableford points) per team count towards the team total.

Right out of the gate, the guys from Windsor Parke came to play. At the conclusion of Tuesday's Round, Windsor Parke saw themselves 5 points clear of the field, with an impressive total of 200 points. The day was highlighted by the impressive play of Sutanit Tangyinyong who carded a gross score of 68, and a net score of 71 (-1), as he was giving three handicap shots back to the field. Staring up the leaderboard and rounding out the Top 3 were the teams of Santa Rosa G&BC, and Cypress Run GC. Both teams fired an opening round total of 195 points, and sat in a tied for second place.

The players couldn't have asked for a better day of golf on Wednesday, so the Championship was truly up for grabs entering the final round. Teeing off slightly before the lead teams, the team from Alaqua CC put up an impressive Round 2 total of 197 points, and leaped to the top of the leaderboard. With only 3 holes to play, Windsor Parke found themselves trailing, and needed to make something special happen down the stretch to get back into first. As the results show, they buckled down and answered the bell, as they captured 43 points on Holes 16-18. This impressive finish lead to two day total of 389 points, which was 7 clear of second place, hence winning in wire-to-wire fashion.

Alaqua CC moved up two places on the leaderboard and took home a runner-up finish with 382 points. Santa Rosa held on and finished with 380 points to secure a spot in the Top 3.

The 2024 Interclub season began in January with 201 clubs competing in a six-week regular season. Fifty-six teams battled it out in the Regional playoffs in March, with 14 Regional champions being crowned.
