Winners Impress at Orange County National

May 27, 2012

Kristine Odaiyar grabbed first place honors in the Florida Junior Tour's (FJT) girls 16-18 age division while Summer Moser won the girls 13-15 age division.  On the boys side, David Gao captured his first career FJT victory in the 13-15 age division.  The tournament was held at Orange County National's Panther Lake course in Winter Garden on May 26-28.

Gao, of Bradenton was the only player in the field to record all three rounds under par. The 2017 graduate's rounds of 70-71-70 were good enough for a three-shot victory over Luis Gagne of Orlando.  Gabriel Lench finished alone in third with a 215 total while Daniel Whelan, who had a tournament low 67 on day three, finished solo 4th.

In the Girls 13-15 age division, Summer Moser of Lutz went wire-to-wire to notch her 2nd FJT victory of the season.  Moser was tied for the lead after day one with Ansley Bowman after an opening round 75.  Moser then separated herself with rounds of 79 and 80, which was good enough for a one-shot victory over Bowman.  Bowman and Moser were tied for the lead going into the par 5 18th, Moser was able to make par while Bowman finished with a bogey.  Athena Yang finished alone in 3rd place after rounds of 78-81-79.  Cristine Lee added to the excitement with a hole-in-one on the 6th hole on Sunday.

In the Girls 16-18 age division, Ocala's Kristine Odaiyar overcame a 5-shot final round deficit to take the title.  After an opening round 77, Odaiyar caught fire.  She fired a 2 under par 70 in the second round and followed that up with a sensational 66 which included 8 birdies.  Odaiyar, a 2013 graduate, is no stranger to final round heroics.  Earlier this year she overcame a 2-shot deficit with a final round 69 at Brooksville Country Club to claim top honors.  Madison Lellyo finished alone in 2nd place with rounds of 71-71-76 while Yueer (Cindy) Feng and Erica Stoner finished tied for third.
