Burkhamer & Lamoureux Win FJT

August 28, 2016

Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach challenged the Florida Junior Tour (16-18) on Saturday for round one of the tournament. In the boys’ division there were only two red numbers at the top of the leaderboard. Kritsarin Oukosavanna, of Boca Raton, shot an impressive two under-par, 70 to take the early lead by one stroke. With a one under-par first round, Matias McRostie, of Jupiter, finished in second place two strokes ahead of the players tied for third. Alex Hu, Beck Fox, and Dhruv Patel tied for third at one over-par.

The girls’ division would see a battle for first place in round two with Alyssa Lamoureux and Lauren Waidner tied at the top after round one. Lamoureux and Waidner carded a one over-par, 73, to finish two strokes ahead of Katie Yoo, who is a two-time FJT winner this year. Three girls, Carolina Andrade, Navika Kuchakulla, and Paige Lee Garris, tied for third place, three shots back heading into the final round.

Justin Burkhamer came from behind, out playing round one leaders on Sunday to capture his first FJT win by one stroke! Burkhamer, of Palm City, posted the tournament low with a three under-par, 69. He carded six birdies, including a clutch birdie on the par three 17th hole to finish with an even par total of 144 (75-69). Justin had to wait and watch the scoreboard as the final two groups came in before hoisting the trophy! Round one leader, Kritsarin Oukosavanna tied Anthony Muttillo for second place at 145 (+1). Tied for fourth place finished Beck Fox and Daniel Core, two shots back with a 146 (+2) total.

In the girls’ division, Alyssa Lamoureux, of Seminole, broke the tie for first place with a final round two over-par, 74, and tournament total 147 (+3). Lamoureux went out in 38 and came in with a 36, birdying her last hole to put an exclamation point on her win! Katie Yoo played hard in her second round, looking for her third victory in a row but finished three strokes behind in second place. Yoo, of Windermere, carded consistent 75’s for a 150 (+6) total. Lauren Waidner fell to tie Tanya Eathakotti for third place five shots from first. Lamoureux earned her second FJT win of 2016 after winning at Black Bear in March.
