Four FJT Champions Prevail

Rocky Bayou Country Club, located in Niceville, provided the juniors with perfect course conditions as well as challenged the players with new greens. The only red number from day one came from the girls’ 16-18 division. Niceville resident, Lauren Miller, carded a two under-par 70 to take the early lead by three over Sophie Membrino, of Ponte Vedra Beach, who finished in second place. Miller did not let the lead out of sight in round two and carded a 75 for a 145 tournament total. Membrino remained in second place, two strokes behind, after a second round 74, 147 total. Claire Albrecht and Sarah May tied for third with a 153 tournament total. Miller earned her second victory on the FJT in 2016 after winning at Amelia National in March.

The girls’ 13-15 division saw a tie for first place between Megan Schofill and Juliana Camargo who both posted a first round 75 (+3). Schofill, of Monticello, broke the tie in round two by posting another consistent 75 to win by two strokes with at tournament total 150. Camargo, of Winter Garden, finished in second place after a 77 second round and tournament total 152. Karoline Tuttle, of Lake Mary, completed the top three with rounds of 79-74—153. Schofill earned her first victory on the FJT in Niceville!

Cody Carroll, of Jacksonville, led the boys’ 16-18 division after round one with a steady even-par 72. One stroke behind in second place finished Alex (Kyuhyeop) Lee with a 73. Round two saw a change between first and second place. Lee, of Orlando, played to an impressive second round of 67 for a four under-par tournament total of 140 and his first win on the FJT! Carroll dropped to second place with a second round 71 (-1) and 143 tournament total. Alone in third place finished Lake City resident, Jacob Soucinek, with rounds of 75-71—146. 

In the boys’ 13-15 division, Brett Schell came from behind with a final round of two under-par 70 to capture first place by three strokes. After round one, Parker Milam, of Sandestin, took the lead with a one over-par 73. Falling to a second round 77, Milam finished the tournament in third place with a 150 total. After a first round 76, Schell fought back to seize first place with a 146 total. Ben Williams played well in round two to finish in second place with a 149 tournament total. Schell earned his first FJT victory at Rocky Bayou Country Club.
