FSGA to Host TrackMan Combines for Juniors

Combines are scheduled around the state, beginning on May 29 at Sandridge Golf Club

TAMPA, Fla. –  As part of a new junior golf initiative, the Florida State Golf Association will begin hosting TrackMan Combine Junior Golf Assessments. This new initiative will provide junior golfers with more exposure to college programs, while also being an additional training tool that allows golfers to compare their results to other players and professionals.

"Technology and specifically launch monitors are a big part of the modern game and our developing juniors deserve the opportunity to see where their game stands compared to other players," Jim Demick, FSGA executive director, said. "We want to be certain that all players have access to technology."

Combines are scheduled around the state, beginning on May 29 at Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach, with the schedule being updated throughout the month. A maximum of 12 juniors per day will participate, with times every half hour from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The assessment will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete and include a short video interview with the golfer. The cost of the combine will be $10 and junior golfers are required to have a Junior Level Membership with the FSGA.

TrackMan Combines offer a comprehensive test of a player's ball striking ability.  The participant will hit three shots to nine different targets as well as three drivers and then repeat the whole process for a total of 60 shots.  Each shot will be graded based on proximity to the target and your scores will be compiled into a total score for all targets.

Scores are calculated based on proximity to the target using carry distance. Scores for each shot range from 0-100 and the average of the six shots at each target will be taken to arrive at a total score for each target. The average of all 60 shots will give the total score. There are no scores that get thrown out, all 60 shots will be included in the average.

"The program is all about giving our juniors the opportunity to be their very best," Demick said.

Every participant who completes the combine will receive a copy of the report, as well as have their score posted on fsga.org. Click here for more information and here for the TrackMan Combines schedule.
