Things to Know: Women’s Florida Cup

TAMPA, Fla. – The top female amateurs from around the state of Florida will make their way to Tampa for the Women’s Florida Cup. A Ryder Cup style event, the Women’s Florida Cup will pit the top amateurs from North and South Florida against each other.

Here's everything you need to know about the 4th Women’s Florida Cup, which will be held October 21-22 at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club.

Meet the Teams: North Team | South Team

Competition: The first day of the championship will consist of four-ball matches in the morning, followed by foursomes matches in the afternoon. The final day is reserved for 16 singles matches.

Host Course: Tampa Palm Golf & Country Club, located in Tampa, opened in 1987 and was designed by Arthur Hills. The New Tampa club will play host to its second-straight Women’s Florida Cup.

Scoring: Each match is worth one point to the team total. In the results of a tied match, a 1/2 point will go to each team.

Women’s Florida Cup History: The South Team captured its third-straight Florida Cup in 2017 with a 24-8 win at Tampa. The South Teams leads in victories, 3-0. You can see the full history here.

How the Women’s Florida Cup Teams Are Made: Each team consists of six amateurs, six senior amateurs and four net players.

How to Win the Women’s Florida Cup: To win the Women’s Florida Cup outright, a team must collect 16 1/2 points. In the case of a 16-16 draw, the winning team from the previous year retains the trophy for an additional year. The South Team, the 2017 champion, would retain the trophy in the event of a tie at Tampa Palms.
