Four First-Time FJT Winners at Heritage Oaks

SARASOTA, Fla. – In the final Florida Junior Tour event of the year, four players captured their first FJT wins at Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club. Harrison Harper and Alexis Rieli were victorious in the 16-18 Division on Sunday, while PJ Maybank and Victoria Zheng raised the trophy in the 13-15 Division.

Boys 16-18

Harper took home his first FJT win in the Boys 16-18 Division, finishing the weekend with the only under-par total, 6-under 136. He started the final round in a tie for second place, after an even-par 71 on Saturday.

The Tampa native got off to a strong start in the final round, birding the first three holes of the day. He added three more birdies on the front to make the turn at 6-under. Harper posted an even-par back nine to secure the nine-stroke victory. He finished the day at 6-under 65, the low round of the tournament.

Jack Barned secured in second place at 3-over 145, and Bill Bircher finished 5-over 147.

Girls 16-18

Rieli picked up the win in the Girls 16-18 Division with a 10-over 152 for the two-day tournament. Following the first round, the Apopka native sat in second place at 3-over 74, three strokes behind Jessica Lan. Rieli began the day with a 5-over on the first nine. She carded a birdied on the second nine to finish the day at 7-over 78. She captured the one-stroke victory to secure her first FJT win.

Lan took home second place at 11-over 153. The Michigan native’s first round even-par 71 was the only even-par or better round in the division. Vivian Kuang finished third at 16-over 158.

Boys 13-15

Maybank survived a two-hole playoff to earn his first FJT win. In Saturday’s first round, he fired a 6-under 65, carding five birdies and an eagle. Maybank headed into the final round with a one-stroke lead over the field.

The Michigan native started the day with a 1-over on the front nine, with two bogeys and a birdie. He finished the day with an even-par back nine to finish the day at 1-over 72. Maybank sat in a tie for first place with Frank Kennedy at 5-under 137.

Maybank captured the win on the second playoff hole. Kennedy took home second place after finishing the weekend with round of 66-71, the only player to post two rounds at even-par or better. Timothy Williamson finished third at 6-over 148.

Girls 13-15

Zheng was victorious on Sunday, posting a 3-over 145 for the tournament. After the first, she sat in second place after a 3-over 74 on Saturday. The Heathrow native carded an even-par first nine, with two birdies.

She added another birdie and bogey on her second nine to post an even-par 71 to secure the nine-stroke victory. Zheng’s final round 71 was the only even-par or better round of the weekend.

Serina Li took home second place with a 12-over 154, while Meir Chan finished third at 14-over 156.
