Anderson & Desaii advance at U.S. Mid-Amateur

Stephen Anderson of Hobe Sound and Nikhil Desai of Sanford will be representing Florida in the match play portion of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship this week.  The Championship is being held at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest Illinois.

Desai was the low Florida player, firing rounds of 73-73.  The Sanford native will face Todd Burgan of Knoxville, Tennessee in his first round match.  Two-time FSGA Player of the year, Stephen Anderson was only one shot behind after carding rounds of 73-74 to also qualify. The Hobe Sound native is the two-time defending FSGA Mid-Amateur Champion and he also captured the 2012 Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South Championship with Jon Veneziano.  Anderson who has won the FSGA Player of the year award in each of the previous two years will face off against Scott Harvey of Greensboro, North Carolina in his first round match.

The 2012 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, for players ages 25 and older, consists of 36 holes of stroke play. The low 64 scorers advance to match play, which features six rounds, including a 36-hole final.
