TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida State Golf Association announced on Tuesday that the 2020 Florida Women’s Open and Senior Open will be relocated to Bradenton Country Club in Bradenton, with Lakewood National Golf Club serving as the co-host.
The 2020 Florida Women’s Open and Senior Open will be contested August 7-9. The Championship will consist of 54-holes of individual stroke play, with a cut to low 60 and ties after 36 holes.
All competitors will play 18 holes at Bradenton CC and Lakewood National – Commander. While both amateurs and professionals will be in the field, professionals will be competing for a $50,000 total purse.
Designed in 1924 by Donald Ross, Bradenton CC recently underwent a renovation led by three-time major champion, Tony Jacklin. Jacklin’s goal with the project was to restore the course to its original Ross design. The renovation included removing six bunkers and 560 trees that were replaced with 226 palms trees.
Bradenton CC most recently hosted the 2020 Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship in July, as well as the 2019 Women’s Senior Amateur Championship. This will be the sixth FSGA championship contested at Brandenton CC
Designed by the Arnold Palmer Company, the Commander Course at Lakewood National opened in 2017. One of the club’s two courses, the Commander Course is built throughout the natural preserves of Manatee County. This will be the second FSGA championship that Lakewood National will host, after the Junior Amateur Match Play Championship was contested there in 2017.
