First-Time FJT Winners at IMG Academy

BRADENTON, Fla. Two first-time Florida Junior Tour winners were crowned at IMG Academy Golf Club. Alex Long and Chloe Chang captured the victories on Sunday in Bradenton. Long secured the five-shot victory in the Boys 13-15 Division, while Chang earned the seven-shot win in the Girls 13-15 Division.

Boys 13-15 Division

Long took home the victory in the Boys 13-15 Division with a 9-under 135 for the weekend. After Saturday’s first round, Long sat in a three-way tie for first at 3-under 69. The Lakewood Ranch native got off to a solid start in the final round, carding a 2-under front nine with three birdies.

He continued his strong play, birdieing two of his first three holes to start the back side. Long added two birdies on the back nine, including a closing birdie on the 18th. His final-round 66 was the low round of the tournament and earned him the five-shot victory.

Ian Lentz finished second at 4-under 140. The Gainesville native posted a bogey-free back nine on Sunday to shoot a 5-under 67 in the final round. His birdie on the 18th gave him a runner-up finish.

Nicholas Prieto took home a third-place finish at 3-under 141. Prieto and Long were the only two players in the field to card two under-par rounds for the weekend.

Girls 13-15 Division

Chang used the only under-par score in the Girls Division to capture the win at 1-under 143. After the first round, she sat in a tie for first place with Vilda Westh Blanc at 1-over 73.

The Sarasota native got off to a quick start in the final round with a birdie on the second hole. She added another on the front side to make the turn at 1 under for the day. After starting her back nine at 1 over, Chang aced the eighth hole, her first hole-in-one, to move to 2 under for the day. Her final-round 70 was the only under-par round in the Girls Division.

Morgan Franklin finished in second place at 6-over 150, while Alexandra Gazzoli and Westh Blanc tied for third at 7-over 151.
