Four Take Home Wins at Rocky Bayou

VERO BEACH, Fla.Four players captured Florida Junior Tour victories on Sunday at Rocky Bayou Country Club. Blake Rigdon was victorious in the Boys 16-18 Division, while Barry Boyi Zhang got the win in the Boys 13-15 Division. For the Girls, Madison Tenore came out on top in the 16-18 Division and Sabree Lefebvre won the 13-15 Division.

This is the first FJT victory for Rigdon and Zhang, while Tenore and Lefebvre picked up their second and third win, respectively.

Boys 16-18

Rigdon survived a playoff to take home his first FJT win with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole. In Saturday’s first round, he posted a 3-under 69, with five birdies, to sit one shot back of the leader heading into the final round.

The Destin native began Sunday with a 1-over front nine. After a bogey to start the back side, Rigdon played the rest of the day bogey free, adding two birdies, to post a final-round 72. He finished the day in a tie for first with Maxwell Page at 3-under 141. The pair both made pars on the first three playoff holes, before Rigdon birdied the fourth playoff hole to secure the win.

Page finished runner-up after rounds of 69-72 for the tournament. Campbell Kennedy took home a third-place finish at 2-under 142.

Boys 13-15

Zhang won his first FJT event in wire-to-wire fashion, ending the weekend with a 4-under 140. He fired a 4-under 68 in the first round to take a one-shot lead over the field, posting five birdies on Saturday.

The Lake Mary native had a rocky start to the final round, with two bogies and a double bogey. He turned it around with a bogey-free back nine with three birdies to post a final-round 72 and earn the seven-shot victory. Zhang was the only player in the field to finish under par for the two-day tournament.

Ian Lentz finished in second place at 3-over 147, with the only under-par round on Sunday (71), while Jaylen Abbas finished third at 5-over 149.

Girls 16-18

Tenore captured her third-straight win at this event with a 3-under 141 for the tournament. She posted the only under-par score in the first round to take a seven-shot lead at 3-under 69, with four birdies.

The Destin native got off to a strong start in the final round, playing the front nine bogey-free with three birdies. She ran into some trouble on the back side, bogeying three of the final four hole, but held on to post a final-round 72 and capture the six-shot victory.

Alia Scotka took home a runner-up finish at 3-over 147, while Makenna Rodriguez and Caroline Nemes finish tied for third at 12-over 156.

Girls 13-15

Lefebvre went wire-to-wire to earn her second-straight FJT win at 1-over 145. She carded an even-par 72 in the first round, the only under par or better round of the day, with two birdies and an eagle. The Riverview native held a one-shot lead heading into Sunday’s final round.

She got off to a hot start in the final round, birdieing three of the first four holes of the day. Lefebvre made the turn at 1 under, before posting a 2-over back nine to secure the victory.
