Wire-to-Wire Winners at Fox Hollow

Mike Damron, John Vaccaro, and Pete McDade all went wire-to-wire to captured their respective division titles at the Winter Series event conducted at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Trinity, December 10-11.

Mike Damron, of Zephyrhils, (pictured right) captured the 40-54 Division with a tournament total of two-over par 144. Damron a past Winter Series Champion, fired back-to-back rounds of one-over par 72 to cruise to a five stroke victory. Paul Melson, of Plantation, finished alone in second place after rounds of 76-73, for a tournament total of 149. Matt Sheran, of Marstons Mills, finished in third place with a tournament total of 151.

In the Senior Division, John Vaccaro, of Sarasota, (pictured below) posted a tournament total of one-over par 143, to win by two strokes.  In the first round, Vaccaro posted a one-over par round of 72 to take a one stroke lead into the final round of play. Vaccaro posted a final round of even par 71 to capture the title. Pete DeLongchamp, of Sebring, and Ken Palladino, of Dunedin, finished tied for second place with a tournament total of three-over par 145.

In the Super Senior Division, Pete McDade, of Lakeland, (pictured far left) expanded on his first round lead to win by six shots. McDade came out firing in the first round shooting the low round of the tournament with an impressive round of four-under par 67, to lead by five heading into the final round. McDade played a conservative final round to post 147 for the event and claim his first victory of the season. Fred Allen, of North Venice, and the last years Points Champion, Tom Austin, of Lake Wales, finished tied for second place with a tournament total of 153.

The Winter Series events include seven competitions, six individual events and one four-ball event. There are three age divisions, Mid-Senior (40-54), Senior (55-64) and Super Senior (65 & over). The Winter Series is a great opportunity for golfers to compete in competitive events that normally may not because they do not live in Florida year round.
