April 24, 2022

SARASOTA, Fla. - Miles Russell and Chloe Chang, both multi-time FJT winners, withstood a good test of golf this weekend at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club. Russell's victory was a come-from-behind win, while Chang went wire-to-wire.

Boys (13-15)

Entering the day two shots back of the lead, Russell, of Jacksonville Beach, birdied holes 14, 16, 17, and 18 down the stretch to force a playoff with Clipper Salmon. Salmon, of Tampa, finished the tournament tied with Russell atop the leaderboard at -3.

The two traded pars on the first playoff hole. It did not reach a third. Russell had roughly 12 feet for birdie on the second playoff hole, and drained the putt to win. This victory was Russell's third of the year.

In third-place was Jizhou (Jeff) Tian, who shot 73-70 to finish the tournament at +1.

Girls (13-15)

Chang thanks to her opening round 69, took a two-shot lead over Sydney Young, of Naples. Chang followed her strong Saturday with an even-par 71 on Sunday, securing a three-shot victory. Chang also was victorious in the Girls (13-15) division at Heritage Oaks last season.

Elisabeth Boersheim, of Bradenton, took home second-place thanks to a final round 70, which paired with her opening round 72, put her at even-par for the tournament.
