Plattner & Coultoff Take 36-Hole Lead

What Happened

Wyatt Plattner and Shawn Coultoff took the 36-hole lead after the second round of the 68th Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship at Seminole Legacy Golf Club and Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club. Plattner took a four-shot lead over the Boys (16-18) field with a 4-under 68 in the second round, while Coultoff ended the day with a 7-under 65 on Thursday to stay at the top of the Boys (13-15) division. 

 Plattner got the day started the day with an even-par first nine. The Sarasota native got it rolling on his second nine with a bogey-free side and four birdies, including back-to-back birdies to end the day. He finished the day with a 4-under 68 to move to the top of the leaderboard at 8-under 136.

Parker Bell sits four shots back of Plattner at 4-under 140, while three players sit in a tie for third: Beni Long, Colton Swartz and Nicklas Staub.  

Coultoff put together another stellar round to keep his lead in the Boys (13-15) division. The Winter Garden native played the first four holes at 4 under with two birdies and an eagle. He closed out his front nine with three-straight birdies, making the turn at 7-under 29. Coultoff finished the day with an even-par back nine to post a 7-under 65 and take an eight-shot lead over the field.

Alex Long used a second-round 68 to finish the day second palce at 4-under 140, while Lorenzo Rodriguez finished the day in third at 1-under 143.

What’s Next

The final round of the Boys’ Junior Championship will begin Friday at The Country Club of Winter Haven with the 63rd Girls’ Junior champions being crowned.

Notable

Coultoff’s second-round 65 was the low round of the championship through the second round.

Plattner, Coultoff and Parker Bell are the lone players in the field to post two even-par scores through the second round.

A total of 58 players made the cut at 9-over in the 16-18 Division, while 23 players made the cut at 9-over in the 13-15 Division.
